We will just state this as a rumor until firm numbers from Nintendo are released.
According to Nintendo YouTuber “Nintendo Prime”, the Nintendo Switch 2 console has sold well over 3 millions units within 24 hours of its launch. You can view the tweet below, as well as a link to the tweet.
If this is true, that would put the Nintendo Switch 2 ahead of Sony’s Playstation 5 launch numbers. The PS5 reportedly sold an estimated 2.1 to 2.5 million units worldwide on its launch day (November 12, 2020).
We should know more within the next few weeks. I can say that in the small town I live in the Florida Panhandle, the local GameStop had well over 100 customers waiting in line for the Switch 2 at midnight, with well over 150 sold (as the way they had people line up, it was by number).
Either way, from a lot of videos being posted online, I would say that the launch was a success, with many stores sold out of units.
